Crash Test Boat Seacocks
We have been working with the team from Yachting Monthly magazine on a new series called "Crash Test Boat". Over the next few months we'll be inflicting plenty of damage to an average 40ft cruising yacht to see what happens and what we can do as sailors to help mitigate any disasters.
In the fourth of these scenarios we wanted to see what would happen if one of the seacocks failed..
With the help of expert surveyor Paul Stevens, we created a few disasters with seacocks failing in the hull and in an awkward place like the heads.
Even Paul was shocked at the rate of ingress, but Chris once again had some interesting methods at hand to help stem the flow of water and buy enough time to get help.
Footage like this has never been seen before and we'd love to hear your feedback and thoughts.
