Around The World With Sir Robin Knox-Johnston

Last week Tracey and I headed down to Clipper Ventures in Gosport to meet up with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. We've been waiting for a while to meet up and record an interview and after a last minute phone call we were on our way.

And of course the first thing I noticed as we arrived at his office was the sound of a pneumatic drill right outside the window which no-one really wants as a soundtrack. It's amazing that as I head to different parts of the country filming I notice more and more that there is so much noise pollution, whether it's from cars, planes or even air-conditioning. Don't be fooled that it's silent out on the water either, if its not motor boats passing by our microphones are battling the wind!

After some quick thinking we found a quiet spot just down the road and settled down a for an hour's worth of chat between Robin and our Tracey. By the end of the interview I don't think there was any subject left that hadn't been talked about including the possible drink-sailing laws.

There was one part of the interview that really struck me and it was when Robin said that why would we bother to do something that's easy when only real joy and pleasure comes from achieving something that may seem impossible but only requires real determination and hard work. I don't think anyone can argue with that especially when we think what Robin has recently achieved.

Our interview will be live in a couple of months...it's worth waiting for...

Steve
